How my Coach should be?
Choosing a life coach is an important decision – emotionally and financially both – and is, therefore, need to be chosen carefully.
The question invariably comes to mind, what are the qualities to look out for in a coach? How do you know whoever you have found out is the right coach for you?
In my opinion, first and foremost, you need to like the coach you choose.
You need to create a rapport with your coach and you need to proceed with a faith that if I follow my coach instruction, it will make a difference to my life in a positive way.
Trust is the key to creating a successful coaching relationship.
There will be many more qualities one would look in to, however, according to me the most desired qualities of a good Life Coach would be as:
v Coach must have a positive attitude always.
Your positive attitude will inspire your clients by your belief in them.
v Coach needs to be Passionate and empathetic.
Be passionate and empathetic with a desire for helping others. This qualities allow you to understand your client’s emotions and their barriers to success.
v Coach should have a great listening skills
Listening to clients deeply and noticing subtle tells help in understanding your client’s issues
v Coach should not give any opinion about client
As a coach, your job is not to give any advice to your client advice. You are supposed to facilitate client to find out of his own the barriers to overcome in his career or personal life.
v Coach should be non-judgemental.
As a coach, you are not supposed to judge your client’s tell and to decide what is right and what is wrong.
v Coach must generate curiosity to ask questions to client.
Curiosity fosters your ability to ask questions to your clients that help them to understand their own feelings and limitations hampering their life.
v Coach should offer challenges to the client
The best coaches challenge their clients so they gain a deeper understanding of their issues.
v Coach must be minute Observant
Great coaches learn much by observing clients and sort out the subtlest signs worry, nervousness or uncertainty.
v Coach can communicate with clarity
To be an excellent coach it is important that you communicate appropriately on many levels such as body language, verbal and non-verbal communication.
v Coach should stay honest
Preserve your integrity. Because coaching relationship with clients develops on mutual trust.
